Movies that are remakes of others are bound to be compared to its original and unfortunately, most fail to live up to their very own standards. However, the Walt Disney produced film proved differently. With its technological-futuristic graphics and upbeat electronic themed music that emphasize the story hand-in-hand, the film brought a fantasy-like story line that was a reminiscent of Avatar. And yes, guys left the thearte starry-eyed daydreaming about the sexy Olivia Wilde.
Tron: Legacy is the sequel to the original Tron released in 1985 starring Jeff Bridges, whom also played a reoccurring role in this film, and I might add flawlessly as well!
Kevin Flynn (Bridges) is the CEO of a multi-million dollar company called ENCOM and the creator of Tron, an arcade game that takes place in a secluded world full of fighting and dangerous circumstances that seem impossible to survive. Sam played by Garrett Hedlund, is the son of Flynn who finds himself trapped in his father’s own game 25 years after his father had disappeared from his life. As the movie continues, Sam is labeled as a “user” and is obligated to fight other “users” in order to proceed into the next round.
After two successful rounds, he is captured by a woman named Quorra (Wilde) who takes him to his father’s home in the game. Twenty five years later, his father tells him why he never returned home and it was because he was trapped in his own game.
As the story continues, the three of them attempt to find a way to overtake the city which is full of corruption but to also find a way out. Will they find a way out? I guess you’ll just have to see it for yourself but there is a catch! All I will say is that the movie is quite captivating and makes you feel like you’re actually in the game. Tron: Legacy deserves all four stars and I really encourage everyone to watch it! This is definitely a movie to take a girl out on a date! Especially if your trying to get past first base!
